Accident at Jitra Intersection Claims Woman’s Life During Desperate Drive for Medical Help
MALAYSIA – In a heart-wrenching incident on 16 February, a 69-year-old woman lost her life in a car crash at the Hosba traffic light intersection in Jitra while urgently driving her injured son to Hospital Jitra. The accident involved her Perodua Axia and an Isuzu lorry.
The woman was reportedly driving in distress, trying to get her 47-year-old son to the hospital after he was injured in a motorcycle accident earlier that day. Initially, she took him to the Changlun Health Clinic but found it closed due to the weekend. Desperate for medical attention, she decided to drive to Hospital Jitra instead.
Tragically, her journey ended in a fatal collision. The impact at the intersection was severe, and despite efforts by emergency responders, she succumbed to her injuries at Hospital Jitra. Her son survived but his current condition remains unknown.
Accident Details and Police Report
Kubang Pasu district police chief assistant commissioner Mohd Redzuan Salleh provided details on the incident. According to the initial investigation, the lorry was heading from Jitra towards Kubang Betong and made a right turn on a green light. At the same time, the woman’s Perodua Axia approached from the opposite direction and continued through the red light, resulting in a collision.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers death caused by reckless or dangerous driving. Authorities are working to determine if other factors contributed to the tragedy.
