Loh Pei Ying and Yudhishthra Nathan Resign from Workers’ Party Following Raeesah Khan Investigations

Former assistants express desire to move on as they seek to return to private life and personal freedom.

Loh Pei Ying and Yudhishthra Nathan, former assistants to ex-Sengkang GRC MP Raeesah Khan, have officially resigned from the Workers’ Party (WP) and submitted their letters to Secretary-General Pritam Singh.

Loh Pei Ying served as Khan’s secretarial assistant from July 2020 until her resignation in November of the previous year. She also previously held the role of secretarial assistant to the Leader of the Opposition from March 2013 to January 2016. Yudhishthra Nathan provided substantial support to Loh and played an active role in assisting the former Sengkang MP.

In a joint Facebook post, the pair revealed they have not been involved in any party volunteer work and have essentially remained members “in name” since December 2021. “For this reason, we’ve decided to resign. These past 11 months haven’t been easy for us, and we feel it’s come to a point where it’s time for us to move on from being members of the Workers’ Party. We want to return to being regular citizens, free to express ourselves as individuals, without others questioning our loyalties and allegiances,” they stated.

Having been affiliated with the party for at least nine years and becoming cadres in 2016, both Loh and Nathan have contributed actively to various teams and departments in grassroots and strategic areas. They highlighted their involvement in the “Walking with Singapore: The Workers’ Party 60th Anniversary” book as a significant achievement, emphasizing the importance of telling this chapter of Singapore’s history.

The former WP members expressed their fond memories of the party and the lifelong friendships they forged. “There are many good people in the rank and file of the Workers’ Party who’ve dedicated their lives to building a better Singapore. We hope they remember to keep the welfare of Singaporeans at the center of all that they do,” they added.

Yudhishthra Nathan had previously shared his aspirations for Singapore on the party’s website, “People of WP,” detailing his hopes to contribute positively to the nation.
