Disney Cruise Line Brings Mickey to Singapore as New Ship’s Home Port Starting 2025

Exclusive partnership with Disney Cruise Line will make Singapore the first Southeast Asian home port, lasting at least five years

SINGAPORE: In an exciting new venture, Disney Cruise Line will soon make Singapore its exclusive home port for its newest and largest vessel, marking a first for the company in Southeast Asia. Announced by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Disney, the partnership will span at least five years starting in 2025.

The new Disney ship, built on the unfinished Dream Cruises vessel acquired from Genting Hong Kong, will be completed by Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and is set to be the largest cruise ship to dock in Singapore. The 208,000-gross-ton ship will carry up to 6,000 passengers, supported by a crew of 2,300. Additionally, it will be one of the first ships in the cruise industry to be powered by green methanol, a low-emission fuel, reinforcing Disney’s commitment to sustainability.

As Singapore emerges from pandemic-era challenges, cruise travel has resumed, with 1.2 million passengers in 2022, or two-thirds of pre-COVID numbers. The cruise industry contributes approximately S$630 million to Singapore’s GDP and provides about 7,000 jobs. Disney Cruise Line’s expansion is expected to significantly boost these figures, drawing strong interest from Southeast Asian travelers and further cementing Singapore’s status as a premier cruise hub.

More details on itineraries, Disney-themed experiences, and maiden voyage dates will be announced soon.
