Canadian PM Justin Trudeau to Visit Singapore, Meet PM Lee as Part of Asia Tour

Trudeau aims to strengthen bilateral ties and promote investment opportunities during his visit to Singapore.

SINGAPORE: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will make a working visit to Singapore from Sept 7 to 8 as part of his upcoming Asia tour, his office confirmed on Wednesday (Aug 30). Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office also announced that Trudeau will meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sept 8.

While in Singapore, Trudeau is set to engage with key private sector leaders to promote Canadian exports and highlight Canada as a prime destination for investment opportunities.

The visit is part of Trudeau’s broader Asia itinerary, which begins with the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, from Sept 5 to 6. Following his time in Singapore, he will travel to New Delhi, India, to attend the G20 Summit from Sept 9 to 10.

The trip aligns with Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, which underscores Singapore as an important partner. Trudeau’s visit seeks to bolster bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation in the region.
