New partnership offers seamless cashless payments and exclusive promotions for Malaysian travelers.
SINGAPORE: Malaysians traveling to Singapore can look forward to enhanced experiences and exclusive perks, thanks to a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), TNG Digital, and Alipay+. The collaboration aims to provide seamless cashless payment options and access to a variety of deals across retail stores, attractions, and dining establishments in Singapore.
Currently, users of Malaysia’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet by TNG Digital can use the platform for flight bookings and travel insurance. With this partnership, they will soon be able to purchase and redeem promotions in Singapore’s retail outlets, tourist attractions, and restaurants. Verified Touch ‘n Go eWallet users can also enjoy additional benefits through Alipay+, making their trips even more rewarding.
Enhancing the Travel Experience
“Travellers in the post-pandemic world expect a seamless traveller experience enabled by contactless payments,” said Mr. Terrence Voon, STB’s Executive Director for Southeast Asia. “This collaboration promotes Singapore as a destination of choice and encourages travellers to get more out of their visit to Singapore.”
From January to October this year, Singapore welcomed over 11 million global visitors, with Malaysia ranking among its top three tourism source markets. During this period, 891,000 Malaysians visited Singapore, reflecting the importance of the neighboring nation to Singapore’s tourism sector.
Increased Incentives for Touch ‘n Go eWallet Users
Touch ‘n Go eWallet, which serves over 21 million users in Malaysia, has already connected them to more than 2 million merchant touchpoints within the country. With this collaboration, Malaysian users can now enjoy added benefits while traveling in Singapore, including earning GOrewards points and accessing exclusive perks.
“Our users now have additional incentives to spend, receive perks, and earn GOrewards points with Touch ‘n Go eWallet when they travel to Singapore,” said Mr. Danny Chua, Chief Commercial Officer of TNG Digital.
Boosting Local Businesses in Singapore
The partnership also benefits Singaporean merchants, offering them greater exposure to Malaysian tourists. “We’re excited to connect local businesses with international visitors digitally,” said Mr. Douglas Feagin, Senior Vice President of Ant Group and Head of Alipay+. “Through enhanced digital payments, merchants in Singapore can benefit from the rise in tourism while Malaysian tourists enjoy seamless transactions and greater savings.”
