Thousands of Singaporeans Join ‘Singlepore’ Dating Event, Sparked by TikTok Expat

TikTok’s Candilicious launches a buzzworthy in-person dating event catering to those seeking long-term relationships.

SINGAPORE: A TikTok-inspired dating event called “Singlepore” has taken Singapore by storm, with thousands showing interest and signing up shortly after its announcement. The brainchild of a TikTok user known as Candilicious, the event caters to individuals seeking meaningful connections, emphasizing a PG13 atmosphere—a point she highlighted much to her mother’s relief.

The idea stemmed from a fellow TikTok user who organizes weekly gatherings where attendees arrive single and leave with a date. Inspired, Candilicious decided to host a similar event in Singapore, targeting those ready to meet new people in person.

Rapid Growth and Overwhelming Interest
Candilicious began preparations by scouting venues, recruiting bartenders, and enlisting an art director for promotional materials. By May 10, progress was well underway, and a waitlist was created to limit the first event to 60 participants.

Within hours of the sign-up sheet going live on May 14, it received such an overwhelming response that the form temporarily crashed. By the next day, over 1,000 people had registered, showcasing strong demand for an offline dating experience.

Key Insights from Participants
Analyzing the sign-ups, Candilicious found that most participants were aged 25 to 34, with a preference for dating within the 30 to 34 age range. Notably, nearly 80 percent indicated they were looking for long-term relationships, reinforcing the event’s serious tone.

“This is not the event for you if you’re looking for a hook-up,” Candilicious declared in a TikTok video, emphasizing the focus on genuine connections.

However, she noted a significant gender imbalance: 80 to 90 percent of registrants were women. This prompted her to encourage more single men in Singapore to sign up and take part.

Next Steps
With the event still open for registration, Candilicious continues to refine logistics and promises an engaging experience for participants. “Singlepore” is not just a response to dating app fatigue but a testament to the growing interest in real-life interactions and meaningful relationships.

The event has already generated significant buzz, proving there’s a strong demand for authentic dating opportunities in Singapore.
