Assurances given that affected voters will face no issues casting their vote as measures are in place to prevent errors.
SINGAPORE: The Elections Department (ELD) has apologised after 9,822 voters across 4,803 households in Tanjong Pagar GRC mistakenly received two poll cards instead of one.
In a statement on Thursday (Aug 24), the ELD attributed the error to Toppan, the appointed printer, which had accidentally included test prints of poll cards with the actual ones. Of those affected, 9,354 voters received cards with differing voter serial numbers, while 468 voters got duplicate cards with identical numbers.
The ELD reassured the public that safeguards are in place to ensure these voters can only vote once at their designated polling stations. Voters must present their NRIC, which will be cross-verified against the polling station register.
The affected polling stations include St Margaret’s School, Tanglin Community Centre, Farrer Park Primary School, and Delta Sports Hall in Tanjong Pagar GRC. The ELD is notifying impacted voters to confirm their correct voter serial numbers.
Voters can verify their accurate details using the ePoll card on Singpass and are advised to discard incorrect or duplicate poll cards after verification. Assistance is available via the hotline at 1800-CALL-ELD (1800-225-5353).
The ELD noted it had received feedback from some voters about the duplicate cards and apologised for the confusion caused. It emphasised its commitment to ensuring a smooth voting process on polling day, Sept 1.
