Fire Contained After Two-Hour Operation at Tuas South Warehouse in Singapore

Emergency teams swiftly control blaze involving flammable materials; all personnel accounted for

A major fire broke out in industrial buildings at Tuas South in Singapore on Monday night, prompting a large-scale emergency response. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted around 6:15 p.m. and dispatched 26 emergency vehicles and 80 personnel to the scene, bringing the blaze under control within two hours.

The fire, which spanned an area of about one-and-a-half football fields, involved solvents and other flammable construction materials stored in a warehouse and adjacent production areas, including a six-story unit. SCDF reported that two individuals sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment, while approximately 40 people were safely accounted for.

Colonel Goh Boon Han, SCDF’s 4th Division Commander, informed the media that firefighters used eight water jets and an unmanned firefighting machine to tackle the blaze safely. “We adopted a defensive approach to limit our personnel’s exposure to high-risk areas,” said Col Goh, adding that structural safety was a concern due to the buckling roof.

The fire was visible from surrounding areas, with social media posts showing large plumes of smoke. SCDF also issued public alerts, advising the public to avoid the vicinity. The site is listed as the factory of Sika Singapore, a supplier for the construction industry.
