Unbeaten in 2025, Barça aim for Copa del Rey final in decisive showdown against Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona, currently on a stunning 20-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, remain the only team in Europe’s top five leagues yet to suffer a defeat this year. With a treble still within reach, manager Hansi Flick has made it clear that his squad is focused on securing trophies, not just playing attractive football.
As they head into Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid—following a thrilling 4-4 draw in February—Flick emphasised the importance of seizing every opportunity.
“I’m here to win titles, and we are fully committed,” Flick stated in Tuesday’s press conference. “This match is like a final, and we have to give it everything.”
Barcelona currently sit three points clear of Real Madrid in LaLiga and have secured a Champions League quarter-final spot, where they will face Borussia Dortmund next week. Despite these achievements, Flick stressed that true success is measured by silverware.
“We’ve played great football and earned our place in this position,” he said. “But in the end, what matters are the titles.”
The German coach acknowledged the challenge Atletico pose, especially as Diego Simeone’s side see the Copa del Rey as their best chance for silverware after exiting the Champions League in the round of 16 and falling behind in the domestic title race. Atletico, third in LaLiga, trail Barcelona by nine points and have struggled in recent matches.
“They know this is their closest shot at a trophy,” Flick noted. “One win takes them to the final, and they have an experienced coach who knows how to navigate these moments.”
While Barcelona have already claimed the Spanish Super Cup this season, Flick remains focused on adding more silverware. “That victory is in the past—we need to keep pushing forward,” he concluded.
