Kelly and Parker Join England Squad for Nations League Matches

Injuries Force Arsenal’s Mead and Wubben-Moy to Withdraw

ENGLAND – Forward Chloe Kelly and defender Lucy Parker have been called up to the England squad for the upcoming Women’s Nations League fixtures, stepping in for injured Arsenal players Beth Mead and Lotte Wubben-Moy. The English Football Association made the announcement on Monday.

Chloe Kelly was initially left out of coach Sarina Wiegman’s squad but made a strong return to action on Sunday, featuring in Arsenal’s commanding 5-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League. It was her first appearance back at Arsenal on loan from Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s head coach Renee Slegers confirmed that Wubben-Moy is dealing with a muscle injury. Beth Mead, although named as a substitute, did not play in Sunday’s match due to fitness concerns.

Lucy Parker, who has consistently performed for Aston Villa with 11 WSL appearances this season, joins the national team looking to earn her first international cap.

England are set to face Portugal in their opening Women’s Nations League group stage match on Friday, followed by a home fixture against Spain on February 26.
