SINGAPORE: The Workers’ Party (WP) seems to have gained a notable addition to its ranks, as photos from a recent walkabout in Marine Parade feature Harpreet Singh, Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Former WP candidate Nathaniel Koh shared pictures on Facebook from the team’s visit to Terang Bulan Avenue in the Joo Chiat division over the weekend. Among those in the photos was Mr. Singh, sparking excitement and speculation online.
Although Mr. Koh did not tag or mention the Senior Counsel by name, the presence of Mr. Singh drew significant attention, particularly on Reddit, where the post was widely shared.
“Wah this one actual big fish,” commented a netizen, expressing the sentiment of many others.
One Redditor highlighted Mr. Singh’s credentials:
“Harpreet is a Senior Counsel category of lawyer, so he’s one of the true best court lawyers in Singapore. He’s also very outspoken on social issues and has questioned PAP’s policies. IIRC he was one of the three senior counsels who acted against 377A. The fact that WP seems to have recruited him, and if he runs next GE, is huge for their party’s legitimacy.”

Harpreet Singh’s professional accolades include recognition in WhosWho Legal 2022, which described him as “one of the best litigators in the Singaporean space due to his impeccable dispute resolution practice.” Additionally, he is ranked as a Global Thought Leader for Commercial Litigation 2023.
His LinkedIn profile notes that he is a member of Harvard Law School’s Leadership Council of Asia and has been appointed to multiple Appeal Advisory Panels under the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He also serves on disciplinary and appeals committees for the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
Netizens have praised WP for attracting such a high-caliber individual, noting his potential as a strong minority candidate and significant boost to the party’s credibility.
The Workers’ Party has yet to comment on Mr. Singh’s involvement.
