The SDP highlights the struggles of seniors and families in Marsiling Division through recent community outreach.
SINGAPORE: During recent house visits in Marsiling Division, the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) shared a poignant moment with a resident that revealed the challenges faced by some seniors. In a post on Facebook, the SDP recounted meeting 70-year-old Mdm M, who lives alone while her bedridden husband receives care in a nursing home. Despite her own health issues, Mdm M takes public transport daily to visit her husband.
The SDP also gathered feedback from other residents. Mr. Jason and Ms. Ling Ling expressed concerns about the shortage of childcare facilities in Marsiling, noting the high cost of private options and long wait times for public centers. They emphasized the need for more affordable childcare options in the area to support families.
On a lighter note, the team shared that a resident, Ms. Lieza, invited them to return for a Hari Raya visit, underscoring the community spirit of the outreach effort.
