New Research Highlights Top Urban Landscapes for Runners Across the Globe
Thinking about going for a run or jog? Here’s some exciting news: Singapore has been recognized as the fourth-best city for running.
According to data from SportsShoes.com, a shoe company, the city secured the fourth position based on Instagram hashtag activity. Singapore’s ranking reflects its vibrant running community, with many groups sharing their sunrise jogs along the scenic Marina Bay.
The most popular cities for running in Asia include Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Globally, London tops the list as the most picturesque running city, followed by Chicago and Boston. The United States boasts the highest number of picturesque cities for runners, with five locations appearing in the global top 10.
As people hit the streets for their daily runs, SportsShoes.com analyzed over a million hashtags from 600 cities worldwide on Instagram to determine which urban landscapes offer the most beautiful scenery for runners.
The analysis involved counting and comparing hashtags from cities across the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia.
Instagram users are eager to capture the best urban running environments with their cameras. Tokyo leads the pack in Asia with 10,200 hashtags under #RunTokyo. South Korea’s Seoul follows closely with nearly 7,600 hashtags, while Dubai’s stunning urban running routes earn it third place with almost 6,900 hashtags.

In the global rankings, Chicago’s Michigan Avenue ranks second after London, boasting over 56,950 hashtags for #RunChicago. Following Chicago are Boston and Houston, along with Melbourne, Australia, and Paris, France.
