Notable among the appointees are Lam Chee Weng, the CEO of Singapore Pools; Jonathan Ng, an executive director at Far East Organisation and director at Yeo Hiap Seng; and Derek Lau, CEO of Heliconia Capital Management and former managing director of investment at Temasek Holdings.

The new directors also include Professor Chong Yap Seng, a senior consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at the National University Hospital; Nicholas Chua, CEO of Ho Bee Land Limited; Goh Shufen, co-founder and principal of R3; and Kuok Meng Ru, CEO and founder of Caldecott Music Group.

They will join the existing board members, including Keith Magnus, chairman of KASM; Alan Goh, CEO of Sport Singapore; Dr. Lee Tung Jee, Deputy Secretary from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; and Quek Swee Kuan, CEO of KASM.

A Vision for Growth and Community Engagement
Keith Magnus, chairman of KASM, expressed his excitement about the new appointments, highlighting how their diverse professional backgrounds would add value to the management of the Singapore Sports Hub. He emphasized the goal of transforming the hub into a unified sports, entertainment, and lifestyle center that draws both local and international visitors.

“The objective is to build a destination where people from all over the world can come to play and engage with our vibrant community,” Magnus said.

A New Chapter for Singapore Sports Hub
The appointment of the new board members comes after the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Sport Singapore took over the management of the Singapore Sports Hub from SportsHub Pte Ltd on December 9, 2022. Since the transition, the Sports Hub has hosted major international sports tournaments, such as the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens and the Singapore Festival of Football, as well as performances by global artists like Black Pink, Backstreet Boys, and Jacky Cheung.

As part of its commitment to community engagement, KASM has focused on creating accessible opportunities for the public. Yazed Osman, group head of events and placemaking at KASM, noted that the organization is dedicated to expanding access to the Sports Hub, including hosting 43 school finals, with three basketball divisions in the National School Games.

In addition to its international events and concerts, the Singapore Sports Hub has also organized community-centered activities, such as the Harmony Sports Fiesta and Majulah Fiesta, to foster greater engagement and inclusivity.
