Singapore Tops Global Government Efficiency Rankings for Second Consecutive Year

The city-state excels in governance leadership and financial management, securing its place as a global benchmark.

SINGAPORE: For the second year running, Singapore has claimed the top spot in the prestigious Chandler Good Government Index, which evaluates government efficiency and capabilities across 113 nations.

The index, curated by the Chandler Institute of Governance, highlights the critical role effective governance plays in fostering national success. According to the report, exemplary governments go beyond crisis management, driving strategic initiatives that promote inclusivity and long-term progress.

Singapore excelled across key indicators, including government leadership and foresight, institutional capabilities, and market attractiveness, clinching the number-one spot in these areas. It also ranked second globally for financial governance, underscoring its robust economic management.

Despite its success, Singapore saw a slight decline in its ranking for improving people’s livelihood, dropping to fourth place from second last year. This dip reflects an area where the nation is committed to further progress to enhance the quality of life for its citizens.

Among the 113 nations evaluated, Singapore stands out as the sole Asian country within the top ten, reaffirming its position as a global governance leader. Switzerland and Finland secured the second and third positions, respectively, with South Korea also recognized among Asia’s top performers, landing in the top 20.

Singapore’s consistent performance demonstrates its commitment to excellence in governance and its role as a model for nations worldwide.
