PM Lee emphasizes the PAP’s commitment to fulfilling promises and securing a strong mandate.
The People’s Action Party (PAP) has released a video showcasing key highlights from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s speech at the PAP Conference and Awards 2022. The video, published on Monday (Nov 14), outlines five essential points from Mr. Lee’s address during the awards ceremony.
The first key point stressed by Mr. Lee was the PAP’s commitment to delivering on its promises. “When we say that we will get it done, you can trust that we will, and it will get done,” he affirmed.
His second point focused on the significance of a strong mandate from voters. “Whether voters give the new government a strong or weak mandate makes a very big difference,” he stated, adding that a strong mandate enables the government to act decisively with the people’s support both at home and abroad.
In his third point, Mr. Lee emphasized the PAP’s dedication to prioritizing the people’s interests. “When we adopt a policy or a program, it is because we believe in it,” he explained, asserting that the party is convinced these initiatives are beneficial for Singapore and committed to making them successful.
Addressing the role of the opposition, Mr. Lee remarked, “When the opposition doesn’t quite reach the mark, it’s our job to turn on a torchlight and show people ‘Here, you’d better take a look. This part is going to be a problem. You’d better know it before it becomes a serious problem.’”
Finally, Mr. Lee articulated why the PAP remains the right party to lead Singapore: “We will work with you to secure a better life for all and a brighter future for many generations to come.”
