A Heartfelt Request for Kindness After Losing Phone at Mall’s Restroom on January 1st
A woman in Singapore has taken to social media in hopes of retrieving her lost iPhone, which she discovered had been taken from a restroom at Paya Lebar Quarter on New Year’s Day. In an emotional post shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group on Thursday (Jan 2), Oriero Angelyn revealed that her phone was tracked to Johor Bahru through the Apple Watch tracking app.
Oriero explained that she had left her pink iPhone 16 Plus on top of a tissue holder in the women’s bathroom of the mall on January 1st, just after 9 pm. Upon realising her mistake, she rushed back to the bathroom only to find that the phone was no longer there. Unfortunately, by the time she returned, the mall was closing and many people were hurriedly leaving.
She approached a cleaner to ask if anyone had turned in the phone, but was told it had not been found. It was only later that evening, through her Apple Watch, that Oriero discovered her phone had been taken to Johor Bahru.
In her post, Oriero addressed the individual who took the phone, urging them to do the right thing and return it: “The New Year just started, I hope you will choose to be kind. I bought it with my hard-earned money, and I know you understand how it feels,” she wrote. Despite trying to contact the person by calling the phone, the calls went unanswered. Once the phone reached Johor Bahru, it was no longer ringing.
Some people in the comments encouraged her to report the incident to the police and mall management, while others suggested she travel to Johor Bahru to ask local authorities to assist in retrieving the phone. Oriero, however, shared that she was unable to travel to Malaysia as she had already returned to work.
She also informed The Independent Singapore that she had put the phone in “Lost” mode, rendering it unusable for the person who took it. While she remains hopeful, Oriero expressed a heartfelt wish that the individual who took the phone might find it in their heart to return it.
